Now that January is finally behind us, it feels like the perfect time to share with you my impressions on 2019 so far.
After a very relaxing and almost life changing end to 2018, I came back completely renewed, with a clear mind full of fresh ideas and goals ready to be smashed. I guess I’ve been longing for change for so many years, that when I finally got the strength to start changing things, life became something unexpectedly beautiful.
I’ve been incredibly lucky to be able to take some time off to put my thoughts and feelings in order. It has allowed me to learn what I like and what I don’t like, what makes me happy and what doesn’t, what I want and what I don’t want in my life, but most importantly, to find myself, to learn to love me again and to understand who I really am.
I try practicing gratitude on a daily basis because I believe a grateful heart is a magnet for miracles. And of course, life is full of ups and downs, and at some point it will bring you to your knees, it will bring you lower than you think you can go. But if you stand back up and move forward, if you go just a little farther, at any moment life will surprise you.
I’m sharing these thoughts with you because I know sometimes we can get trapped in situations that never seem to come to an end, our lives become this endless vicious circle and most of the time we don’t even realise that is the case or how to get out of it. But trust me, there’s a way out and you’ll find everything you need within yourself.
For 2019 I’ve made my number one priority to do more of the things that make me happy, to fully enjoy life and remove anything that brings negativity, grief and sadness to it. But what makes me happy? What are the things that ‘spark joy’ in my life (had to quote Marie Kondo)? I’ve always said this, it’s the little things in life. And for me those little things are spending more time with my loved ones, my family, my friends and eventually, that soul mate who I know is waiting for me somewhere. Happiness for me is getting up in the morning, grabbing a turmeric latte and go for a long walk in Hyde Park or just around my neighbourhood in Notting Hill. Happiness is a full night of peaceful sleep, a glass of wine after a long day, watching sunsets, traveling to a new place or going back to a very special one. Happiness is a massive ice cream while watching Bridget Jones, Notting Hill or Pretty Woman, it’s eating that extra piece of chocolate without having to think to which part of my body is going to go, it’s singing out loud like there’s nobody listening, dancing ballet, writing on my blog again and for little while completely immerse my heart and soul into it. Happiness is feeling at peace with myself and knowing that regardless whatever is going on in my life at any given moment, everything is going to be alright.
It’s mind blowing how your whole life can change just by changing your approach to it (I highly recommend it).
Over the past month I’ve been doing a lot of what makes me happy, I feel more empowered and confident than ever. I’m changing a lot of things and finally making things happen. Exciting times ahead!
One of the things I somehow lost along the way was sharing outfit posts here, so I’ll definitely start doing that again and much more often. I guess the difference this time will be that those posts will be a bit more like this one, talking to you about things I’m passionate about, instead of just about what I’m wearing, but without neglecting that part either.
For this post I wanted to wear something that reflected both sides of my personality, the strong dominant woman who’s stepping strong into 2019 and the sweet girl who loves chick flick and all things silky and extra girlie (hence the vinyl skirt and silk blouse). Although you can barely notice them (which is actually the point), I am wearing
Hēdoïne tights, which are the first in the world to be seamless, ladders free and with compression waistbands; I’ve never worn anything more comfortable and flattering before. For this outfit I went for “The Nude” to complement my good girl gone bad look, I love how they hold everything in the right place and make me feel so comfortable no matter what I’m wearing, plus they are so resistant that you can wear them over and over again without worrying about scratching them. For days in which I want to accentuate that stronger and of course, sexier side to my personality, I’d wear “The Bold” which is all black. For everything else “The Edgy” is my go to option.
I personally think there’s nothing sexier than a woman in tights and heels and if you throw some silk and leather to that, you’ll get a lethal combination (sorry feminists, this part of the post might not be for you). Trust me I’ve tested it (wink, wink).
