FINDING YOUR TRIBE – CROATIA DIARIES

It’s part of our human nature to search for belonging, to find where we fit it. From a very early stage in our lives when we first start school, to university, our first job and in life in general, we tend to gravitate towards those who have things in common with us and those who have the qualities that we admire.

As we get older, and especially when you live abroad like I do, it becomes harder to find people you actually connect with - For me it’s been quite challenging to find my tribe in London. I struggled for a long time. I had no idea where to start. I didn’t share the same interests with people from work, I didn’t know the city and if I’m brutally honest to myself, I didn’t even know how to be social anymore. Then I met TBP.

It would be an understatement to say that coming across this lovely group of people has been life changing for me in more ways than one. I call it serendipity (finding something wonderful while looking for something completely different). Back in 2016 when I came across TBP, all I was hoping for was to be able to do some networking and if I was lucky enough, perhaps collaborate with some brands, but life had something bigger for me.

After almost a year out of the blogging scene, I quite frankly didn’t know what to do anymore, but they believed in me and welcomed me to their family (that’s not something to be taken for granted). Not only my blogging career reached another level, but also my personal and social life. I’ve had the opportunity to meet a lot of likeminded people who I can go out with, have fun and talk about a lot of different things; and today I’m extremely happy to be able to call one of them my best friend. And that, ladies and gents, is priceless to me.

I don’t think I’ve ever told them how good they’ve been to me, so I guess this is some sort of public THANK YOU.

As you know, we go on trips together a few times a year and this time we visited Croatia (Spoiler Alert: it is a beautiful as the pictures you've probably seen). I was very excited about this trip because it was my first time in the country and the first summer getaway of the year. We flew from London to Split with Wizz Air, this wasn't my first time travelling with them so I was quite happy with the idea, they have fantastic prices to all their destinations around the world and the service is great, you should definitely check them out for your trips this summer.

After about 1 hour drive around the coast we made it to our beautiful hotel, The Admiral Zaton. Located in Zaton, Sibensko, this coastal boutique hotel has everything you need to relax and unwind during your holidays. Every single corner is beautifully decorated with beach vibes that scream summer holidays all over. The staff is incredibly friendly and made us feel at home throughout our entire stay. The day we arrived we enjoyed of some fantastic cocktails at their Konoba Kalifornija restaurant which serves light Dalmatian and California coastal cuisine. No better way to start the night.

After cocktails we headed for dinner to a restaurant just a few steps away from the hotel. The area has also a lot of nice bars perfect for summer nights. We had a great time catching up and the food was delicious, I pretty much ate seafood during my entire stay in Croatia.

The next day we headed to Krka National Park and took a boat trip with Trip Advisor to explore the waterfalls, a place you cannot miss if you're in the area. To avoid the crowds the earlier you get there the better, but it's so worth it, the place is a little piece of heaven. We had time to explore, take pictures and enjoy the place. The water was freezing but we were having so much fun that it didn't stop us from getting in the water and going for a swim.

After spending all morning there we went to Sibenik for lunch (yes, more delicious seafood for me) and then to explore the old town. Its colours and architectural contracts are so beautiful that it's impossible not to fall in love with every corner of it. That night we had the most beautiful dinner at Konoba Vinko which serves the most exquisite traditional Croatian food, anything I could say about it won't be enough, you have to try it. It was a beautiful night full of fun and laughter that I'll surely remember for a long time.

The striped swimsuit and bikini I was wearing are both from Figleaves, my go to place when it comes to swimwear, lingerie and loungewear.

This trip wouldn't have been the same without my tribe, my TBP family. People with whom I can be the most real version of myself, who are on a similar path and share similar dreams and goals. It's taken a bit of time, but I can finally say "These are my people!".

Have you found your tribe?
